Donald M. Biback
Partner

With over 30 years of experience in the real estate sector across Canada and the USA, Don brings significant strategic business expertise, hands-on experience and industry knowledge to each assignment. Over the course of his career, Don has worked with the firm of Proctor and Redfern as an urban planning consultant and Cadillac Fairview Corporation where he held a variety of executive positions over a period of more than 18 years including Executive V.P. Development and Chief Operating Officer. In 1997, he was appointed President of First Professional Management Inc. and in 1998 co-founded and is Managing Director of Beacon Group Real Estate Services Inc.

Don holds a Masters degree in Environmental Studies (Urban Planning) from York University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He has sat on numerous Boards and Committees, including Cadillac Fairview, International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) and the Disciplinary Committee of the Ontario Planning Association. Don is currently a Director and Trustee of Scott's REIT.

Thomas R. Ehrlich
Partner

Prior to joining Slate Properties, Tom was the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Beacon Group Real Estate Services, a real estate services firm that provides leading- edge advisory services to businesses across Canada. Mr. Ehrlich has been involved in all phases of development and management of real estate including site acquisition, re-zoning, leasing and construction.

In addition, Tom Ehrlich served as External Asset Manager for Summit Real Estate Investments from 1986 until 2005 as the REIT grew from 30 million to 1.7 billion in market capitalization.

From 1985 to 1996, as President and Founder of Tanurb Developments Inc. Mr. Ehrlich oversaw the company’s growth to develop and manage over 2.6 million square feet of retail space in Canada and the United States. He is also a member on the board of the Baycrest Centre Foundation and is active in several non profit organizations.

Blair Welch
Partner

Prior to joining Slate Properties Inc, Mr. Welch was responsible for developing a CMBS program for First National Financial Corporation in Canada as well as obtaining their rating as Master and Special Servicer. Mr. Welch was a Vice President of Fortress Investment Group in Tokyo, Japan. During his time in Tokyo, he was responsible for origination of Asian opportunities for the New York based real estate investor.

Mr. Welch has also worked with Bankers Trust and Brazos Advisors (now Lonestar) participating in direct investment, securitization and corporate debt transactions in the United States and Canada.

Brady Welch
Partner

Prior to joining Slate Properties Inc., Mr. Welch previously held positions of Vice President and Managing Director at Fortress Investment Group between 1998 and 2005, where he was responsible for the asset management of a $750 million portfolio of office and industrial real estate located in Canada, United States and Belgium totaling over 5 million square feet.

Prior to Fortress, Mr. Welch held a position of Vice President at Truscan Property Corporation and started his career at Lone Star Opportunity Fund (formerly known as Brazos) where he was responsible for acquisitions, dispositions and asset management of large pools of non-performing loans and real estate owned assets in Canada. Mr. Welch received a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Mount Allison University.

Adam Lazier
Senior Vice President

Mr. Lazier joined Slate Properties in January 2006. Prior to this Mr. Lazier was a key member of the CB Richard Ellis Investment Property Group. During this time his primary focus was office properties located in the GTA. While at CB Richard Ellis, Mr. Lazier completed over 40 transactions and represented the interests of private, foreign and institutional clients. Mr. Lazier has also worked with O&Y Enterprise performing various functions in their Property Management, Accounting and Leasing divisions.

At Slate Properties Mr. Lazier is responsible for acquisitions across Canada.

Caroline Zabana
Internal Controller

Ms. Zabana joined Slate Properties Inc. in January 2006. Ms. Zabana’s experience has been cultivated through working in the Commercial Real Estate Industry for almost a decade in Accounting and Finance. Having spent seven years as Controller for Jones Lang LaSalle, Canada, a world leader in Real Estate, Caroline’s analytical and finance background is a perfect fit for Slate Properties Inc. Ms. Caroline Zabana holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting.

At Slate Properties Ms. Zabana is responsible for Internal Control and Accounting for all properties across the portfolio.

Lawrence Mosselson
Vice President

Mr. Mosselson joined Slate Properties in August 2006. Lawrence worked at Beacon Group Real Estate Services, where he was involved in various aspects of the retail real estate industry, including asset management, leasing, development and acquisitions. Lawrence holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from York University, specializing in Real Property. Since graduation, Lawrence has held various positions with Rogers Cable and Rogers Wireless, Dylex Limited, Shoppers Drug Mart, and O&Y Enterprise, where he was responsible for all leasing activity on a portfolio of over 1.2 million square feet. Lawrence has also served for several years on the Planning Committee for the International Council of Shopping Centers Canadian Convention.

At Slate, Lawrence is responsible for asset management of the Ontario portfolio.

Darrell Shipp
Vice President

Mr. Shipp joined Slate Properties in August 2006. Prior to joining Slate, Darrell spent 1 ½ years with CB Richard Ellis in Toronto, holding the position of Senior Research Analyst for the GTA, specializing in the analysis of the office leasing market and the commercial investment market in the GTA. Prior to joining CB Richard Ellis, Darrell worked with IBI Group, a multi-disciplinary consulting firm, where he focused in real estate research, with an emphasis on financial analysis, highest & best use studies and land need analysis on behalf of both private and public interests. Darrell received a BA Hons Geography (Urban Development) from the University of Western Ontario.

At Slate Properties, Darrell is responsible for the financial analysis and review of the current portfolio. As well, he is involved in the due diligence for strategic acquisitions and dispositions.
